WhatIsGoingDigital

A special message from Jason Messer, Superintendent:

Have you heard? Manteca Unified is 'Going Digital' in 2015!

But what does 'Going Digital' mean? Who is involved in 'Going Digital'? How did we pay for it? And how did we prepare to 'Go Digital'. These are just a few of the questions you might have, as they are certainly a few of the questions I have asked myself and have been asked by others.

Each day I see how incredibly fast our digital world is changing and progressing. The educators of today grew up in the 20th Century, but these same educators now educate children born in the 21st Century.

It is our job to prepare them for their future and it is imperative that we provide them not only with 21st Century technologies, but the digital skills to use these technologies successfully.

Our challenge is supporting students in this journey. This will be a challenging journey with many victories and obstacles. This journey will take time and we will need to support each other as we progress. I am pleased that we have industry partners such as Microsoft, Intel, and Cisco that have joined us on our 'Going Digital 2015' journey.

These partners share a vision of what the digital world will look like as well as what skills students will need to find success in that digital world. These partners bring the expertise, infrastructure knowledge and technology to assist us in realizing our goals. The following document provides our vision and path for MUSD Going Digital 2015 project.

The Manteca Unified School District is dedicated to be a leader in Public Education. Even with a deep and rich history of nurturing and educating the students, Manteca Unified is ready to take the next brave step toward the future of Public Education. Through the vision and guidance of the Manteca Unified School District Board of Trustee’s and Superintendent Jason Messer, the Manteca Unified School District is “Going Digital”. The students and community of the Manteca Unified School District will have the best 21st Century education, utilizing modern and culturally relevant instruction. Through a digital interface, the District will improve access for all teachers and students to curriculum and educationally relevant global materials. Through the Going Digital initiative, the district will address pathway, end user devices, student and teacher interface, curriculum, and appropriate staff and student training. This is a bold step to meet modern real world needs. In Manteca Unified, our common core values are to provide the right learning environment for all students to flourish in!
